Introduction
Trezor Bridge is the official communication tool that enables your Trezor hardware wallet to interact with web applications such as Trezor Suite and supported third-party wallets. Unlike browser plugins, Bridge runs in the background and ensures a more stable, secure connection between your device and your computer.
Step 1 – Download & Install Trezor Bridge
Windows
Download the Windows installer (.exe) from the official Trezor website. Double-click the file, follow the on-screen instructions, and grant administrative permissions when prompted.
macOS
Download the .dmg package. Drag the Trezor Bridge icon into your Applications folder. On first launch, macOS may prompt you to allow the app in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
Linux
Use the provided .deb or .rpm packages depending on your distribution. Ensure that udev
rules are correctly installed so that your Trezor device can be recognized.
Step 2 – Connecting Your Trezor
After installing Bridge, plug in your Trezor device via USB. Open Trezor Suite or your preferred wallet interface. The Bridge service will detect your device in the background and establish a secure channel.
Step 3 – Security Best Practices
Always Verify URLs
Only download Trezor Bridge from trezor.io/bridge. Phishing sites may attempt to trick you into installing fake software.
Never Share Recovery Seed
Your recovery seed is the only way to restore your funds. Trezor staff will never ask for it. Do not type it into your computer or phone under any circumstances.
Step 4 – Troubleshooting Common Issues
- If your device is not detected, try restarting Trezor Bridge.
- Ensure that no browser extensions (e.g., old Trezor Chrome app) conflict with Bridge.
- On Linux, confirm that
udev
rules are correctly installed.
